  • National Preparation

I was just wondering what everyone is doing to prepare specifically for nationals this year. Any changes you all made already or are making before the big event?

Last year the evo's clutch crapped out during the first runs and we were woefully unprepared in the mud. Thus I installed a better clutch and my plan is to have mud-specific tires ready before Iowa. Probably going to get a fresh tune as well.

As the Hoosier contingency specifies that they have to be used for each run I'm looking to procure a set of take offs for cheap and then I'm gonna cut out half the blocks.

I got a set of new snow tires for my Stock 2.5RS. I had my originals since 2011. And I'll make sure my AC is working properly.

The most important part of Nationals prep for me has always been getting the correct playlist and/or CD collection for the drive up.

Not that it ever matters, I always listen to the complete Slayer discography on the way there, and the Kleptones' "Bestival" album on the way home, on repeat.

Oh nothing major. Just replacing the engine and transmission and clutch and...
I lost some minor bits in Florida.

Glad everyone is buying mud tires, that will insure no rain.
              I'm putting gas in it.
It took me all spring to work out the bugs that I think I acquired at the auto show with all the kids playing with switches and such. Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Nothing other than running an event this weekend to try and make sure the car doesn't crap out, last year the engine quit after the last run on the event before nationals and I had to buy another car for Nationals - nothing like running a car for the first time and having it being nationals, then dealing with mud and a Miata - after running an AWD car for the past several years.
